Coldplay Pays Tribute to ‘Beautiful Man’ Taylor Hawkins at Concert in Mexico

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took a moment to remember Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins during the band’s concert in Mexico on Friday (March 25).

The shocking news of Hawkins’ death was announced by the Foo Fighters on Friday evening. There was no immediate cause of death. He was 50.

” The Foo Fighters’ family is devastated by our beloved Taylor Hawkins’ tragic and untimely death,” Dave Grohl-led band said in a statement. “His infectious laughter and musical spirit will live on with us all .”

In an emotional tribute, Martin dedicated Coldplay’s 2015 A Head Full of Dreams track “Everglow” to the late drummer during the British band’s gig at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.

” Martin informed the crowd that Martin had heard from a friend in the Foo Fighters about the passing of a member. “We were unsure whether we should talk about it at this concert, but we must because they are our friends and we care deeply about them. We feel we have to send love to the Foo Fighters because we all knew Taylor, their drummer who was a beautiful, wonderful man. So we’re going play this song for them

The Foo Fighters were due to perform Friday night in Bogota as part of Festival Estereo Picnic. Local news reports claim that Hawkins was found unconscious in his Bogota hotel suite. According to reports, the band has cancelled its remaining South American tour dates.
