Chris Christie’s niece reportedly kicked off plane, injured six deputies in Thanksgiving disturbance
A woman reported to have been a niece of former New Jersey Governor. Chris Christie was allegedly disrupting an aircraft and injuring six officers.
Captain Jason Rivarde from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Shannon Epstein was taken from a plane at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. NOLA.com reports that Epstein is Christie’s niece. The flight was heading to New Jersey.
“She was taken off the flight after causing disturbance, including asking a family she believed to be Latino if they were smuggling drugs. Rivarde stated in an email to Fox News. She became very combative when deputies first made contact with her at the jet bridge. She bit one deputy and kicked another in the groin during her arrest. “
Rivarde stated that Epstein was eventually taken from the scene in a wheelchair.

Rivarde did not confirm that Epstein is the niece of the former New Jersey governor, but he did say that “she repeatedly stated that they would lose their jobs or be arrested because of her familial relationships.”
Epstein was arrested on charges of remaining after forbidden, resisting a police officer with force, and multiple counts of battery on a police officer. After posting bond, she was taken into custody and released the next day.
Rivarde noted that mugshots are not publicly available for cases involving such charges.
