DALLAS (AP) — One person was killed and 11 others were injured during a shooting at an outdoor concert in Dallas, police said.

At about 12: 13 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a field in southeast Dallas where a concert was being held, police said in a statement.

Police report that a preliminary investigation revealed that one person fired a gun at the crowd, and then another individual fired in the opposite direction.

Near the concert stage, police found 26-year-old Kealon Dejuane Gilmore lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Gilmore was killed at the scene.

Police say that 11 other individuals were shot during the concert. All those who sustained injuries were transported to hospital by ambulance or private vehicle. One person was in critical condition, while the other two were stable. Police said that three of the victims were juveniles.

Lulu Smith, who attended the concert with her daughter, told WFAA-TV that it was part of a trail ride event in which people drove their all-terrain vehicles, sat in the bed of trucks and paraded through the property before finishing up for a concert at the main stage.

Witnesses said to the TV station that the shooting took place after a fight broke down.

” Everyone was running,” Smith stated. “It was so jammed right here, it was impossible to get in or out. Someone was shooting as I got to my car. I rolled down my window to hear (shots ).”

).

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and have not made any arrests.

In a statement, Eric Johnson, the Dallas Mayor, called the shooting “horrific” and “unacceptable .”

” Public safety remains our top concern, and I will be conferring to Police Chief Eddie Garcia to determine what more can be done in order to stop violence in our city,” Johnson stated.

Saturday night’s shooting happened two weeks after 10 people were shot on March 19 during a spring break party at a Dallas event venue.
