Hirigoyen's gifted skills as a restaurateur came to the forefront when he and a partner opened Fringale, a modern French bistro, to national acclaim in 1991. Hirigoyen's other Bay Area restaurants include Piperade, the restaurant that he opened with his wife Cameron, and Bocadillos, a stylish Spanish tapas bar. He has been featured in Gourmet, Bon Appétit, and the New York Times. Honors include Food & Wine's "Best New Chefs in America," "Chef of the Year" by San Francisco Magazine, and most noteworthy, a James Beard Foundation Award nomination for "Best Chef, California" in 2006.
