Greg Dunmore

Executive Chef

Member since 2009

Greg Dunmore is the former executive chef of the elegant Ame in San Francisco, owned by acclaimed restaurateurs Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani. Here he perfected his interpretation of New American cuisine, influenced by the bounty of the Bay Area’s seasonal ingredients, and the intricacies and flavors of Japanese cuisine. In 2006 at the helm of Ame, both the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Magazine selected Greg as a Rising Star Chef. Also that year, Ame was named a top new restaurant by Esquire. In 2007, the restaurant earned a coveted Michelin star under Greg’s guidance.

Greg earned degrees in both Culinary Arts and Business from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. His early career included a stint at San Francisco’s Aqua in 1995, and four years in Atlanta cooking at Bacchanalia and Floataway Café, both owned by James Beard Award-winning chefs Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison. In 2002, Greg returned to the Bay Area to join Sone and Doumani at their revered Napa Valley restaurant, Terra, before opening Ame with them. He is currently planning his own Bay Area restaurant.
